where my passions lie

passion is a powerful emotion that can drive us to do things, great or terrible, unlike anything else. i have many beliefs about God, one being that our goal of becoming more like him involves letting our hearts beat in rhythm with his. i want to be passionate about what my Father is passionate about. and so, here are some places and people to which my heartstrings are irrevocably tied.

Golden, Missouri

KAA is a summer sports camp for inner city youth from all around the country. It's located in the midst of cow pastures in a small "town" in southwest Missouri. It was also my home for two longs summers, in 2011 and 2012. The campers are taught the gospel of Jesus Christ, through words, but far more importantly, through actions. This place has been blessed by the Lord and through him, has the power to change even the stoniest of hearts, mine included.

Quesimpuco, Bolivia

Quesimpuco is the most rural of places in the world today, a small village tucked away in the Andes mountains. Even with modern transportation, it takes almost 2 full days to get there, and it's only in South America! On my first trip there in 2008, I immediately fell in love with the Quechua people and culture. Life is different, completely removed from civilization. Christianity there is new, less than 20 years old. I've learned a lot about spiritual warfare and gifts of the Spirit through my time in Bolivia. Part of my heart will always long to be there, ministering to and being ministered to by these people.
